i had a random moment tonight. i was at the UNC men's basketball game at the Dean Dome working on a story and i was waiting for the people i was interviewing to show up. some guy, maybe 35 or 40 years old, was standing near me with his daughter, about kindergarten age, when he asked me if i would watch his daughter while he went to the bathroom. okayyyy...who asks a complete stranger to wait with their daughter while they completely leave for about five minutes? granted, he knew i was with a news station, but still...i would never do that with my child! what if i was some kind of nutcase and kidnapped his little girl! can you imagine how awful that would be for his family? "sorry, honey, i left our daughter with a complete and total stranger while i went to the bathroom and now she's gone." i will say this little girl was very cute (and she had red hair so you know i was in love with her! lol) and we got along quite nicely.. i found out her name is Leah, she likes eating Skittles, playing soccer and doesn't like basketball. thankfully for the dad, i am a nice person and would never take someone's child...but others out there will! actually, i should have just taken his daughter and hide with her from him for a minute or two to scare the crap out of him so he's frantically looking around...then show up and be like, "sir, this is why you should never leave your child with a stranger." he would have needed to learn that lesson!
switching gears...
the reason i was at the game is because there's a young girl, about 20, who is actually a triplett, but she has cerebral palsy. her family contacted the Make A Wish Foundation and her wish was to go to a North Carolina basketball game. she loves the team and LOVES Tyler Hansbrough...he's the star player and, in the eyes of the females, would basically be equivalent to patrick beilein at wvu...all the girls love him and think he's cute. anyway, so she got her wish granted and was at the game. i could not stop smiling watching how much fun she was having with her dad. it was the sweetest thing ever...she was so excited to be there! she was all decked out in her north carolina blue, had a little UNC tar heel sticker on her check...it was awesome. i am really exicted about this story...these are always my favorite kinds to do!
